Itinerary

DAY 01: CUSCO –SORAYPAMPA (HUMANTAY LAKE) –SALKANTAYPAMPA 4150

This tour begins with the pick up from your hotel between 06:00 am to 06:30 am.

We will go in our mobility to the Soraypampa bus station which is located approximately 03 hours and 30 minutes from the city of Cusco, during the journey we can make some stops to take some photos of the landscapes. At the Soraypampa bus station we will have 10 minutes to get ready and thus be able to start our adventure.

Soraypampa

The first 30 minutes will be a flat route to the community of Soraypampa (3912 masl) and from there we will start our ascent to the Humantay lagoon (4200) which will be around 1 hour, once in this place we will be able to appreciate the scenic beauty of this Nevado as well as the beautiful lagoon that bears the same name HUMANTAY, we will have enough time to take photos, explore the place and be able to obtain information from our guide on the Andean flora, fauna and history.

Then we will walk 02 hours approx. towards Salkantaypampa (4150 masl) place of our camp where we will taste a delicious lunch with an impressive view of the snowy Salkantay, we will have a free afternoon with the aim of acclimatizing, enjoying the landscape and around 5 in the afternoon we will have the hour of tea (Tea time), then you will rest until 6:30 pm. Time when dinner will be ready. Finally we will spend the night in this camp

DAY 02: SALKANTAYPAMPA – JAPANESE PAMPA – ABRA INCACHIRIASCA – SISAYPAMPA

This day your guide will be in charge of waking you up early in the morning offering you a hot coca tea that will be good to deal with the altitude. We will have enough time to get ready, go on to taste the delicious breakfast and continue our adventure. We will walk around 3 hours and 30 minutes to the Japanese pampa, where we will have a short break, from there we will go to the Ancascocha lagoon which is located 25 minutes from this place, it is here where our guide will share his knowledge about the Andean cosmovision, the Inca ideology, starting a conversation about spirituality and reflection and then returning to Pampa Japonesa (25 min) to taste our delicious lunch with a beautiful view of the Salkantay mountain (6271msnm)

Salkantay mountain

After recharging our energies, we will continue with our route walking uphill for 1 hour towards the Incachiriasca pass 5040 masl, after taking the photographs at the highest point of the tour we will begin the descent of approximately 3 hours to Sisaypampa 4200 masl, place of our camp.

In this place our team will wait for us with tea time and a short time later an exquisite dinner. Finally we will sleep in this place that is located at the foot of the mountains with a privileged view of the stars.

DAY 03: SISAYPAMPA – INCA CANAL – PAUCARCANCHA

After having completed the 2nd day with total satisfaction, we deserve a not so demanding day since the tour will be approximately 05 hours (mostly downhill journey), this will be ideal to rest, appreciate and visit the archaeological site of Paucarcancha.

We will start the day with a delicious breakfast at the foot of the mountains and we will have enough time to get ready and start another day of adventure. We will walk from the campsite to the Inca channel for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, in this place we will take a short break and we will be able to appreciate an Inca channel considered a work of hydraulic engineering that was built by the Incas more than 500 years ago and that even Today it is used by local people for their daily tasks.

Paucarcancha

After this break we will go to Paucarcancha which is located about 4 hours away, a place that will be our 3rd camp, we will have time to refresh ourselves explore the place, it should be noted that this place is a little warmer due to its increase in vegetation , the climate being a little more humid. Also in this place we will taste our delicious lunch.

In the afternoon after resting we will visit the archaeological site of Paucarcancha considered an Inca tower due to its circular shape, some theories also indicate that it was a place of Inca religious and ceremonial worship. After the explanation provided, we will return to the camp for tea time and some time later to have dinner.

DAY 04: PAUCARCANCHA – PATALLAQTA – KILOMETER 82 – AGUAS CALIENTES

On this day we will take a tour of part of the traditional Inca trail where we will be able to appreciate important archaeological centers, the day will start early in the morning, after having rested and recharged energy we will taste a delicious breakfast, then we will perform a ceremony of gratitude and farewell with our cooks and muleteers for their great work within the days of walking.

Continuing with our adventure we will walk around 3 hours to the archaeological center of Wilkaraqay, from this place we will be able to observe one of the most impressive archaeological sites of the Traditional Inca Trail PATALLAQTA an Inca citadel that remained hidden for more than 500 years, in this place our guide It will provide information about the Incas and we will also take a little break.

Patallaqta

After having taken group photographs and having learned about the Incas, we head towards Piscacucho (kilometer 82) located about 3 hours of walking. During the journey we will see various families that live around these places and that sell the popular Andean beer “Chicha ”We will also observe the famous cochineal that is a parasite which the Incas used to dye their textiles.

Once we get to Piscacucho (kilometer 82) where we will taste our lunch, then we will take a bus that will take us to the Ollantaytambo train station and then go to Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu town), when we arrive at the town we will go to our hotel place where we can shower, rest and use the laundry.

At dusk we will have dinner in a tourist restaurant, where our guide will provide us with all the previous information for Machupicchu.

DAY 05: MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

This day will be the most important because we will visit once again the Sacred City of Machupicchu, the day will begin with the pick up from your hotel very early; then we will go to the bus station where we will board a bus that will take us to Machupicchu (30min approx). In Machupicchu we will carry out the guided tour for around two hours that will be led by our Professional Tourism Guide, there we will explore each of the sectors of this wonder and then you will have enough time to explore this place on your own.

Montaña Machupicchu

Visitors who have added tickets for the extra hikes “Montaña Huaynapicchu” or “Montaña Machupicchu” will do it on their own after the guided tour. According to the program you will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, have lunch, board the return train that will take you to the train station and then be transported by bus to your hotel in the city of Cusco.

To end the tour, we will board the bus that will take you back to your hotel in the city of Cusco.

NOTE: Backpacks can be any size for hiking, but we always recommend that the smaller the better. According to the current regulations of the Ministry of Culture, in Machupicchu the entry of backpacks of more than 25 liters is not allowed. If it is larger, you will need to store outside the doors of the curb.
